1 bag at a time When I founded 1 Bag at a Time® in 2005, I created exactly the company I wanted to see in the world. That meant a company that combines the best of environmental, social, and economic responsibility. I remain committed to those same beliefs today. I used to be a high school English teacher, but when I discovered reusable grocery bags on a trip to Australia, it changed my life. As a passionate environmentalist and life-long learner, I was shocked to learn about the damage caused by shopping bags, and it didn’t take me long to see how easy reusable bags were. It was a positive transformation that I wanted to share with others. So I set out to bring attractive and affordable reusable bags to America, and share information about the how bags impact our planet. That’s exactly what I’ve done. Since then, my company has become a leading supplier of reusable bags in America. The more than 10 million bags I have sold will replace over 10 billion plastic bags, saving our environment and our cities untold damage and waste. Small stores, mid-sized businesses, and large corporations all come to me when they want a bag specialist. They know they can count on my company to deliver a consistently high quality product, excellent customer service, and corporate responsibility policies that accord with their own beliefs about respect for people and the planet.

In early 2004, Andy Keller, now ChicoBag president, took a trip to his local landfill after spending the day landscaping his backyard. He was horrified by what he saw. Single-use bags were visually the dominant article at the landfill that day, blanketing the landscape in a thin mix of white and beige plastic. On his way home he began to notice plastic bags everywhere, caught in trees and on fence posts, half drowned in gutter puddles and blowing in the streets like urban tumbleweeds. That day Andy vowed to stop using single-use bags. Inspired, Andy dropped a few bucks on a second hand sewing machine and began sewing what would ultimately become the first ChicoBag™ brand reusable bag.

Earthwise Earthwise Bag Company, Inc. is one of the leading suppliers of reusable bags in the United States. Earthwise is the brand of eco-friendly products that inspires responsibility and accountability because a fresh approach to feeling good about our planet should be simple, feel comfortable, and bring peace of mind.

Eco Bags Eco-Bags Products, Inc. opened for business in 1989 with a simple goal; to produce quality bags at great prices so that “Reusable becomes a way of life.” We started with the ECOBAGS® Brand Classic String Bag, a simple lightweight, expandable daily tote used in Europe for generations, long before paper and plastic bags. We introduced our bags at the 1990 Earth Day celebration on Sixth Avenue in New York City. The bags were a hit. We sold out in four hours. Now, we carry a complete line of ECOBAGS® Brand bags in natural and certified organic cotton, recycled cotton and hemp/cotton blends. ECOBAGS® Brand products can be found in many natural foods, gourmet, eco, grocery and drug stores. They are used as promotional tools and incentives for retailers, manufacturers and many nationally recognized non-profit organizations. Keep an eye on magazines and newspapers because ECOBAGS®Brand bags are even starting to hit the world of fashion and accessories.

Green Bag In simple terms our business philosophy is ‘’to design and develop commercial solutions to a social problem ‘’ – specifically in this case to provide environmentally sustainable, low cost, practical alternatives to single use plastic bags. After 10 years we are still committed and guided by the need to continue to be creative in developing solutions to the scourge of single use plastic bags. Our contribution can and will be measured by us continuing to design, develop and promote sustainable products and recovery systems, in the first instance a switch from single-use disposable bags, to a reusable and recyclable alternative – the Green Bag.

Project GreenBag A Project GreenBag is the sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags. 100% organic cotton, biodegradable and made in San Francisco CA. Project GreenBag combines utility with fashion. Yeah, they cost more than a free supermarket plastic bag, however look at what you get. You’re getting a consciously-designed product created by people who want to make a difference. The bags are cut, died, stitched and distributed from right here in the city of San Francisco. In these days of global commerce, we think that’s pretty cool. For most of our existence, people have known us as® – the site that spawned the reusable shopping bag movement & raised awareness of the plastic bag problem. However, through our vision and actions we’ve always been much more. To embody what we’re all about, our store and proprietary line of innovative products are now named® (reuse it). The name captures the essence of our proactive spirit to adopting a reusables lifestyle. Of course,® still exists as part of our information hub with more sites to come – each one designed to raise awareness and educate on a variety of specific consumption issues.
